As one of the very first graduates (back in 2014), I get a lot of emails and messages asking about Jenny Shih’s Make it Work Online program so here’s my honest review of the program.

Make it Work took my business from an expensive hobby to a full-time income. When I enrolled in early 2014, I had a website, I’d worked with a few clients and started building my email list but I honestly had no real clue what I was doing and the kind of success I was seeing so many other online business owners have seemed out of reach.

The 12 biggest lessons from my first year in business {Part 1}

One year ago today — May 8th, 2013 — this website went live with my very first blog post and my business was born! (Even though at the time all I was offering was 30min free social media help sessions.)

I certainly wasn’t born wanting to be an entrepreneur. I avoided business classes in high school and university in favour of science and languages.

This past year has been one of profound growth (personally and professionally), ‘pinch-me-is-this-really-my-life’ highs and ‘can-I-really-do-this’ lows and an incredible amount of learning.

My business-building secret weapons

Maybe this is shocking coming from a social media coach, but as powerful as social media is, you need to have a strong business foundation BEFORE you can make the most of it.

When I decided just under a year ago that I wanted to work for myself and become an entrepreneur, I read, and googled, and read some more, desperately seeking resources and support to help me get started. I had a lots of social media experience but zero business experience, and no clue how to run an online business.

Then I made a business decision that changed my business forever.
